THE PICKUP
Now here's an absolute high-class pick-up of great sound versatility made by Ralf Hoffmann at RVH Pick-ups.
The magnets can be exchanged to adjust/tweak these to your personal taste and sound and come in vintage white (like mine) and black. The single coil pick-ups standard delivery config is with neodymium mounted on the E and A string, and alnico 500 on the strings D to E. Ralf can also wind you any pattern you'd want.
Ralf also makes a superb "Single Coil Humbuckers" and "Humbucker".
I use this bridge single coil in my Telecaster playing through a Palmer Fat50. A great combination! Strong on bass and treble, this proves to be an excellent solo pick-up. Hot and alert, with loads of funk and willing to crank my amp.
A pleasant pick-up that is a big improvement compared with the Fender standard.
THE UNITY
This rotary switch can get you some really useful extra sounds. Installation is easy, just solder it on the output contacts of your guitar. What it does, is deliver a true bypass (pure signal), a filter circuit distortion and four additional filter-stages.
I tried the unity on several instruments and believe it benefits with gain. It really likes the Filtertron on my resonator guitar. This guitar in it's turn likes the Unity because the Distortion adds a nice blues-touch to it's sound by taking a thin slice of the treble tones. The filter stages can tame this guitars tones, making it fit into different roles it didn't fit before. It takes the harshness of the tone, or benefit the mid-tones, or roll off from the treble down, which is excellent for biting solos. It's passive, so no batteries required. Real fun!
